Services

Christmas Eve

This service is the highlight of the season, in which we at Cordova Bay United Church put the "Christ" back into Christmas. The 4:00 PM service reiterates the Christmas story through action and singing with children taking an active role. Our 8:00 PM candlelight evening service, with musical solos and joyful singing prepares us for "Christmas Day."

Christmas Cantata

Our choir hosts a Christmas Cantata for the congregation to enjoy. The Cordova Bay United Church Choir under the direction of our dedicated Choir Director, Pat Shumka, ensures we hold onto the "true meaning of Christmas." The Choir portrays the splendour of the season as it tells a Christmas story through song.

Easter Week Services

As this is the most important week in the Christian faith at Cordova Bay United Church, we have a Maundy Thursday service, a Good Friday service, a Saturday evening vigil, and then a sunrise service at Cordova Bay Beach which is followed by the regular worship service on Easter Sunday.

Remembrance Day Sunday

On this Sunday we light the Red Candle of Sacrifice, the White Candle of Courage and the Blue Candle of Hope. This service is held in honour of the soldiers who have fallen. As participants, we show respect for the cause for which they fought.

Baden-Powell Service

Canada's legion of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Sparks, Brownies, Guides & Pathfinders participate in the Sunday worship service at Cordova Bay United Church in celebration of the scouting movement. The service takes place on the third Sunday in February. A point of interest is that there are about 1,500 Scouts and Guides in the Capital Region, of a total of some 3,000 on the whole of Vancouver Island. Cordova Bay United Church is the host facility for the 5th Tsartlip Group.
