Weddings
Here are some points to consider regarding weddings at Cordova Bay United Church:
- CONSULTATION WITH THE MINISTER
- Please arrange an interview with the minister at least 30 days prior to the wedding.
- The dates and time of the interview will be determined in consultation with the minister.
- You can book the appointment with the minister by calling the Cordova Bay United Church Office at 250-658-5911.
- Couples are strongly encouraged to attend a preparation for marriage course.
- Considerations for courses may include:
- Island Pastoral Services at 250-472-2851 or ipsa@islandpastoral.bc.ca offers a marriage preparation course.
- The Chaplaincy Office of the University of Victoria, 250-721-8338 also offers a course entitled “Growth Together.”
- THE REHEARSAL
- Rehearsals are important for lowering anxiety and thereby allowing you to enjoy your wedding day.
- Arrangements will be made with the Minister regarding the date and time.
- The Marriage License and balance of wedding fees to be left with the minister during the rehearsal.
- THE WEDDING CEREMONY
- The wedding ceremony is designed and planned in consultation with the minister.
- MUSIC
- Our church organist is available to play the organ and/or piano for all weddings upon request.
- Other arrangements concerning music should be made in consultation with our minister.
- FEES
- The Cordova Bay Church Council has mandated the fees for weddings are as follows:
- Deposit of $50.00 as an initial reservation.
- A fee of $470.00 includes: organist, caretaker, administration and the minister’s honorarium.
- PHOTOGRAPHS
- Flash photography is not allowed during the Wedding Ceremony.
- Video taping is permissible.
- FLORAL DECORATIONS
- Wedding party is responsible for their own decorations.
- CONFETTI & DECORATIONS
- Confetti, rice, et cetera are not permitted because of their impact on the environment.
- Wedding bubbles outside of the church are welcome.
